Sidney Regional Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist with Wound Care expertise or interest.

This person will be responsible for a broad range of care in a rural setting, including Acute Care, Swing bed, Extended Care Residents, and Outpatients. A diverse skillset and interest range with the ability to be busy and dynamic will excel. Must have a service orientation, strong core values and a willingness to learn and support the Team.

We are replacing a long-time PTA, but would consider a PT with wound care experience or the desire to become involved in wound care specialties as well.

Job Responsibilities (Physical Therapist Assistant):

  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patient to perform various physical activities and in use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Administer treatment, involving application of physical agents and educate the patient about the treatment process. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in the patient's chart and/or enter information into computer. Transcribe and carry out physician's orders in a correct and timely manner.
  • Confer with Physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care. Communicate effectively between patient, patient's family, physicians, and other staff members of the health care team in provision of care to ensure continuity of care.
  • Home Health - Carry out devised treatment plans established by the PT and nursing. Work collaboratively with other professional staff and the patient/patient family to help assure appropriate care is provided. Recognize the need for and recommend to the PT and/or case manager that further evaluation and changes in the plan of care are necessary and follow through to assure completion. Be knowledgeable in and track oversight rules and regulations and help assure that the team adheres to them.
  • Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups as delegated.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant or school of Physical Therapy.
  • One year of clinical experience preferred. New graduates will be considered.
  • Valid license in the State of Nebraska as a Physical Therapist Assistant or a Physical Therapist.
  • BLS certification
